Short Film Video Editing and Score Composing

This is a humorous and strange short film that I took part in making during a year in film school. It was shot on a bolex 16mm camera and then digitized and edited in Final Cut. This was a time consuming process but ended up making a nice little film. The editing of this video was pretty straight forward since the script was worked out before hand and we just had to get shots to go with it.

I also composed the music to this short, which ended up giving it a nice diamond commercial feel to it.

Music Video Editing

This is a music video for a short piano waltz that I wrote. The video was edited together using old archive footage of a European vacation through a few different countries. This is a good example of the kind of music video editing I can do using archive footage, but I can also work with footage you may have or stuff that I film myself. The images I selected for this particular music video go with the feeling of the piece and all work together to create a cohesive whole.

Freelance Video Editing: Composer Documentary

This is a documentary on an experimental music composer that I directed and co-edited. The final video draws from footage of interviews, the composer walking around the university, and musical performances, as well as a lecture, so it was a complex edit that brought together a lot of different elements. Along with the video editing work, there was also a lot of sound work to be done just to get it sounding normal.

Most of this piece is edited with a standard documentary style, but we decided to employ some cinematic devices during a certain musical sequence to bring some life into it and do something a little out of the ordinary. This is a pretty well respected American composer, but he’s also quite a character so we wanted to capture that.

This was one of the harder video editing projects I have been involved with because of the amount of material we had to construct a film of around 15 minutes. We had hours of footage to sift through and many different days of shooting to bring together, but it came out nicely and it is presented in a smooth logical order thanks to our planning and hard work in the editing room.

Oh, and on a related note, if there are any composers out there who are looking for work online in the form of film scoring opportunities or anything else, this is a great site to check out that will list your composer profile and also list composing jobs that people can submit. Any type of music composer should find this site to be helpful, and there is even a section for video game composers, which is one of the newest areas in music production and scoring.

Street Drummer Documentary Video Editing Project

Here is an example of a documentary that I directed and helped film and edit, street drummer. We tried to convey a very minimal street style and capture the urban night environment. The editing of this video is also pretty minimal, as we were going for realism and as little flashy cinematics and edits as possible. It was a hard project to put together because of the tangents that the drummer, Donald D, would go off on when we were interviewing him. Also, the unplanned nature of it all made for a lot of work in the editing room getting together a cohesive whole in the end.

Freelance Video Editing: Video Comic

This is a video comic that I have been doing the editing for. It is only three short episodes long right now, but it should be continuing indefinitely into the future. The editing consists exclusively of working with a single image and some different text effects, with some music underneath. A pretty simple production, but hopefully it will catch on and become a popular video series. The point of it is to highlight the writing and just create an effective visual presentation, which I believe we have established. There is just enough medieval atmosphere to establish the theme and the white background makes for a unique style.

The name of the series is Noble Conversations, look for it on YouTube. We are trying to make it a recurring series on YouTube and one of the first well known video comics.

Short Film Editing Project

This is an old short film that I made in film school. I did the directing and editing. The film was shot in camera for the most part with some slight editing changes after it was all done. I wrote the music for it and added in the credits, which were not that long, its a little joke. Not too much to say about this video, there really wasn’t that much editing involved since it was shot in camera.

This is a demo reel of some projects that I have edited and filmed in some cases. Most of them are from a TV show I recently worked for. There is also a clip from a documentary and a live musical performance recording that I filmed. I will be posting some more projects that I edited in the coming days.

Welcome to my freelance video editing site. This site serves as a home for my online demo reel and other film projects I have worked on. In addition to video editing, I am also an experienced sound designer and film composer, so I can handle any sound needs that you may have while editing projects. If you need someone just to do some sound or composing work by itself, I can do that too.

I have worked on just about every different kind of project, from documentary and narrative film, to TV shows and music videos. I was originally studying audio and music production when I got into film editing through taping some musical performances, so I have a diverse background in audio and video.
